Kentucky Fried Chicken have confirmed that it is planning to open a new restaurant in Lichfield.

The news comes after rumour locally suggested that a pub site on the outskirts of the city is the likely site of a new KFC.

The fast-food company has already announced plans to create around 9,000 jobs across the UK and Ireland as part of their expansion plans.

The company refused to confirm the exact location of a potential new outlet, but did confirm to The Lichfield Blog that they are looking at a number of sites across the city.

A spokesman for KFC said:

“Due to popular demand in the area, we can confirm that we are looking at a number of potential sites in Lichfield. To date, no decision has been made, so we can’t provide further detail at this stage.”

Now I definitely need to sign up to the gym – I’m gonna need it if there’s a KFC close by!

The location is sort of known but we’re trying to firm it up – you’ll probably keep fit running to it if it’s where we think!

Shoulder of Mutton? Probably not – I think it’s far too residential to put a KFC there, especially given that most KFCs I’ve ever been to/past have chavs hanging out in the car park at all hours in their shoddy little lowered Saxos.
My (wild) guess is Wall Island.. direct competition to McDonalds and right next to the gym. Happy days.
