The recently refurbished club will be holding a Fashion Show on April 25 with models wearing a range of spring/summer styles provided by local shops, in addition to golf and fitness-wear from the club shop.

A Duck Race is set to take place on the mill stream in the summer, and a host of golf-related fundraising activities are planned for later in the year.

Richard Gee, Manager of Lichfield Golf and Country Club said:

“We chose to support St Giles Hospice because it’s a charity which has touched the lives of quite a few of our members and staff, and with the country club attracting a great many new people and their families we hope to raise more than £8,000 by this time next year.

“We look forward to welcoming people from across the local area to support our programme of events and help us achieve our target for St Giles.”

Golf and country club members will be adding to the fundraising spirit by running the London Marathon this month, while those who prefer a more leisurely way to help a good cause can come along to the monthly coffee mornings.

Helen Relihan, Head of Fundraising for St Giles Hospice, added:

“We’re absolutely delighted to have been chosen as Lichfield Golf and Country Club’s charity of the year, and encourage everyone to pop along and find out more about what’s going on and how they can get involved.

“This type of community fundraising really makes a difference to the care we offer to local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses, both at our hospices and in their own homes.”
