The rare violin discovered in Lichfield

A rare violin which was discovered in Lichfield is expected to fetch £2,000 when it goes to auction.

The instrument is believed to be 200 years old and of Irish origin.

It will go under the hammer at the Mackworth Hotel in Derby on April 23.

Charles Hanson, manager of Hansons Auctioneers, said:

“We are pleased to be handling the sale of the violin. We hope it will play sweet music hitting the right note and selling for up to £2,000.”
