Melbourne Utd Girls U14 0 Lichfield Diamonds U14 9 – A disciplined performance from Diamonds was enough to earn a good away victory.

Alison Livermore was the top scorer with four goals, while Laura Eggington netted three and Lauren Baily and Shannon Bernes-Jones rounded off the scoring.

Next up for Diamonds U14 is a League Cup semi final tie against Burton Albion.

Derby Panthers Girls U13 0 Lichfield Diamonds U13 1 – With Panthers picking up several new players and having beaten the second and third place teams in the last two weeks, Diamonds new they would have a game on their hands.

Against a strong wind in the first half and Derby playing the long ball the City girls had a lot of ball in their own half, but Taylor Hitchcock in goal coped well coming off her line to mop up.

The second half was totally different, Caitlin Harper’s low shot was pushed round the post by a diving keeper and then Harper headed over from a Lucy Whielden corner.

Swapping wingers Catherine Knight and Josie Balla for the second half as a masterstroke as Knight broke clear but again a good save from the keeper kept the ball out.

However Whielden in centre midfield again picked out Knight’s run down the left and this time her shot to the near post beat the keeper.

Hilton Girls U12 0 Lichfield Diamonds U12 3 – This was a much-improved display after last week’s disappointment, although the shape in midfield is still a concern.

With Hilton never really looking like creating anything, it took a goal from Meehan to settle the girls down.

The second half continued much the same and but for some excellent goalkeeping, missed chances and the woodwork, Diamonds would have ran away with this but had to make do with two more as Meehan again and a good solo goal from Harte wrapped up the win.

Stretton Swifts Girls U11 2 Lichfield Diamonds U11 2 – With players missing and no subs to call on, playing the league leaders could have been a nightmare scenario for the U11’s. But with their backs against the wall they really stepped up to the plate and gave a battling performance to be proud of.

The girls went in at half time 1 – 0 down with a highly dubious goal.

But even after that blow they came out looking strong and got a deserved equaliser through Bowdler.

Hitchcock then smashed home a penalty to make it 2 – 1 and left Diamonds dreaming of a victory.

Unfortunately with a player down on the floor after a head injury, the ref allowed play to go on and with the last touch of the game Stretton equalised.

Hednesford Belles Girls U10 1 Lichfield Diamonds U10 2 – A below par performance from Diamonds, but it was perhaps expected on a shocking pitch.

With the score at 0 – 0 at the break, Diamonds raised their game in the second half, but against the run of play went behind after some woeful defending.

This actually spurred Diamonds on, Elizabeth Palmer crossed to set up Niamh Bowdler for tap in only to see her team-mate put it wide.

But the reprieve for Belles was short lived as Natalia Edwards set up Palmer who made no mistake.

Captain Charlotte Jarvis drove her team forward in search of the winner and with a minute left Palmer rifled the ball home.
