Work has begun to dismantle a memorial to British soldiers killed in Iraq and bring it back to the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield.

The memorial wall features brass plaques bearing the names of British soldiers who have died in the country and was the scene of an an emotional service last week where the names of the 179 service personnel were read out ahead of the military withdrawal from Basra.

Members of 37 Armoured Engineer Squadron have begun dismantling the wall brick by brick.

The wall will then be returned to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas and re-assembled.
