A Burntwood teenager, who tried to grab alcohol confiscated by a police community support officer, has been handed an £80 fine.

The 17-year old youth from Chase Terrace, was arrested following the incident at Burntwood’s Redwood Park.

He tried to snatch back alcohol which had been confiscated by the officer who was patrolling the area in response to complaints of under age drinking and anti-social behaviour.

Following the incident, the youth was arrested and given an £80 fixed penalty ticket for being drunk and disorderly on May 2.

Neighbourhood officer, PC Steve Bristow, said he hoped the fine sent out a strong message to young people thinking of causing a nuisance in and around Redwood Park:

“The park offers a fantastic facility for the whole community and police and people living in the area will not tolerate it being miss-used by a small minority.”
