Customers at two Lichfield pubs can enjoy a pint of beer – and raise funds for a children’s cancer charity at the same time.

The pubs, The Acorn Inn in Tamworth Street and The Gatehouse in Bird Street, are each serving a specially-brewed real ale, Fools Gold.

Ten pence from the sale of each pint will go directly to CLIC Sargent, a charity which helps children with cancer and their families.

The beer will be on sale in the Wetherspoon pubs until Monday June 29.

Sian Elwell, manager of The Acorn Inn, said:

“Real ale is very popular at the pub and I am sure that our customers will enjoy a pint of Fools Gold and welcome the opportunity to support an excellent charity too.”

The beer, brewed by Shardlow Brewery, is described as a ‘smooth golden ale’ and has an abv (alcohol by volume) of 4.5 per cent.
