Streethay residents are being urged to get their thinking caps on to help fight off the prospect of 850 new homes in their village.

A quiz night is being organised by the Streethay Against Development campaign as they look to reach their £2,000 fundraising target.

The campaigners are currently £400 short of the target but are planning a series of events to help them achieve it – starting with the quiz night.

A spokesman for Streethay Against Development said:

“We are now very close to our target for hiring a consultant as agreed at the open meeting at the Cricket & Hockey Club. If you pledged money or wish to contribute now please follow it through. ALL money will be used for the campaign and we have already started fundraising for the future with the quiz night. Any other ideas- please let us know!”

The event takes place on May 20 at 8pm at The Anchor Inn in Streethay. Entry is £2 per person with prizes for the winner and runners-up. There will also be a raffle with prizes donated by the SnowDome and Keith Hall Hairdressing.
