Nature lovers will be able to learn more at a free event in Lichfield.

Lichfield District Council’s Countryside Team, in partnership with the Friends of Muckley Corner Common, is inviting people who are interested in finding out more about local wildlife, to the event event this June.

The Mammal Signs and Tracking event is a great way to learn the skills that will help you to identify what mammals call the common home.

The event features lots of activities, including how to identify different animals from their tracks and skulls, making plaster casts of mammal footprints, and setting live traps to find out what small mammals live at Muckley Corner Common.

Tamara Kabat, Biodiversity Officer for Lichfield District Council, said:

“Being able to spot the signs of mammals changes your experience of the great outdoors as you will always know what animals are around you. Please remember to wear sturdy footwear and sensible outdoor clothing.”

John Crowe, Chair of the Friends of Muckley Corner Common, added:

“We hope lots of people will come along in the morning to help us track mammals. As well as being a fun day, it will also help us to start a survey to identify the different mammals on the common.”

Booking is essential. Please contact the District Council’s Countryside Team on 01543 308183 or email [email protected].
