Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant has had his Facebook account resinstated.

His account had been suspended after he fell victim to a phishing scam which had left him unable to communicate with a number constituents.

But Mr Fabricant said that to his relief and “maybe to a few of my 1,527 friends” his Facebook account has been restored. He added:

“The internet is a small world.  My plight was reported on a few specialist websites and someone contacted me with the name of one of Facebook’s directors.  I emailed him in California straightaway and I am now back up and running.

“But all joking aside, Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with some of my constituents who might not otherwise want to contact their MP.  It also gives me a valuable insight into what local people are thinking – not always possible when down in the hothouse of Westminster. And contrary to the suspicions of a few, I maintain the site myself and do not have a staffer run it for me.

“I have flirted with Twitter, but it’s not for me. I find it too inflexible”.
