Police in Lichfield arrested a 24-year old man this weekend and charged him with three burglaries, all in Lichfield. The man will appear at in court in Tamworth today.

The arrest is part of a crackdown across Lichfield, including the area around Valley Lane and Trent Valley Road. The drive was launched following a ‘spate’ of break-ins across the city and Police warn that more arrests are in the pipeline.

Commander of Lichfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit, Inspector Trevor Steventon said, “I hope this latest arrest sends out a very clear message that there is no hiding place for burglars seeking targets in our communities.”

“Many burglars are opportunists who spot an open widow or door and step inside to see what they can grab,” he said, urging housekeepers to keep their windows and doors locked.

Anyone who has information which may help Police track down burglars is urged to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is free to call from landlines and completely anonymous. People who give information to Crimestoppers may be able to claim a reward where offenders are arrested and convicted.
