3663logoEXCLUSIVE: More than 200 jobs could be lost after a food logistics company announced that it was considering closing a depot in Lichfield.

The 3663 First for Foodservice site at Fradley Park employs 240 workers.

A company spokesperson told The Lichfield Blog:

“We can confirm that we are currently considering the possible closure of Lichfield Depot but no final decision has yet been made.

“The continued impact of the current economic climate and a subsequent decrease in business volumes has lead us to review the infrastructure of the 3663 Logistics business. After an analysis of business efficiency, it has become necessary to consider the potential reduction in the number of Logistics sites. Based on geographical location and additional capacity at other sites, the possible closure of Lichfield depot is currently being considered.”

But despite the possible closure, the company have claimed that no final decision has yet been made.

The spokesperson added:

“No final decision has been made and we will be entering into full collective consultation with the affected employees at the beginning of July. The proposed closure in no way reflects on the commitment, quality and dedication of the staff at Lichfield Depot. As a result of the consultation process we are unable to disclose any further detail at this point in time.”

Our lichfield depot is not closing as such.
ALL present staff, warehouse/office/transport ( excluding transport and warehouse manager ) are being made redundant. Becasue they own Cannock depot out right they are selling it then moving all staff into lichfield. Supposedly to save money ?
All lichfield work is being split between Royton and Banbury.
So far no one is being told what is going on. Good old 3663 !

As for ‘we will be entering into full collective consultation with the affected employees at the beginning of July’ What rubbish. Not one single person has spoken to us about what is going on.

Looks like we’re going to be given statutory redundancy and a £100 a week ‘loyalty’ bonus for staying till end of september. What an insult !
