Two Lichfield workmates have taken on the largest cycling event in Europe.

Gary Hickman and Jim Watts from Midlands Co-op’s Lichfield-based head office have taken part in the British Heart Foundation (BHF) London to Brighton Bike Ride.

Workmates, Gary (38) and Jim (43) joined 27,000 other cyclists to cycle the challenging 54 mile route on June 21. They raised over £1,000 as part of their commitment to helping the BHF, Midlands Co-op’s staff-elected charity partner for 2008 and 2009.

 Commercial Accounting Manager, Jim said:

“Cycling the London to Brighton bike ride was a real challenge but it was great fun and we gave it everything. The BHF’s welcome and support along the route was fantastic.”

Travel Sales Development Manager, Gary added:

“We were really surprised by the huge amount of people taking part in the event. We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us, including family members, friends, work colleagues and even members of the public.”

If you still would like to donate to Gary and Jim’s appeal, please visit their justgiving page on www.justgiving.com/jimwattsandgaryhickman which will stay open until September 29.
