Inspire Film Festival awards “gob-smacking” young talent

As part of the Inspire Film Festival in Lichfield, school students were invited to submit their productions to be judged by the festival’s panel for the Schools Award.

There were five nominations for the award in total. They were;

  • ‘Making My Escape’ by Beckie Woodland
  • ‘Kurt’ by Kurt Neil
  • ‘Keep the Promise’ by Alex Davies
  • ‘Keep on Running’ by Robert Markland
  • ‘Iffley Mead 6th Form Documentary’ by the students of Iffley Mead School

The winner of the award was 14-year old Robert Markland from Lichfield Cathedral School. His submission was an animation called ‘Keep on Running’.

Eoin Edwards, one of the organisers of the Inspire Film Festival said, “When we first watched that we were all gob smacked and could not believe the quality of the work from such a young student, many of us myself included knew that even we couldn’t produce an animation as good as that. And It was high in the running, and a lot of peoples favourite, for the ‘Best of Festival’ Award. We sincerly hope that we see robert and more of his work at future events, and hope that he can take this and progress into the industry because he is just that good.”

Robert’s father, commented, “if you missed it you missed a treat!”
