The former headteacher of a Lichfield school has been sacked from his new post.

Ex-Nether Stowe High School principal Barrie Cooper had initally been suspended from his position at West Lakes Academy in Cumbria after complaints to governors from teachers.

But following an investigation Mr Cooper has now been been removed from his position.

In a statement West Lakes Academy said:

“The governing body was unanimous in noting that the conclusion set out in the report of the investigating officer and the weight of evidence of gross misconduct are such that there is a fundamental breakdown of trust between the principal and governors that he cannot continue in his role.

“The governors regarded this as a breach of contract which gives the governors grounds for dismissal.”

Mr Cooper was not available for comment.
