The City Council and the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum are planning a spectacular light and sound show for Samuel Johnson’s Birthday and need Lichfield’s help!

Artists Peter Walker, Andy McKeown and David Harper will be at the Birthplace Museum on July 25 to collect the faces and favourite things of Lichfield.

People are being urged to go along with a special possession to photograph, a favourite word in mind or just come as you are, and see your face in lights, projected onto the Birthplace building in the Market Square during the free display taking place in September.

There will also be free art activities for children available throughout the day on Saturday.

The Birthplace Museum is also holding a range of activities throughout the summer.

Award-winning artist Carole Collier will be leading the fun every Wednesday throughout the summer holidays from July 29. Admission to the Wednesday Workshops costs £2, which includes all materials. There will be a different activity every week and entry to the museum is free for accompanying adults.

The Birthplace Museum is open daily from 10.30am-4.30pm (11.00am-3.30pm in the winter), last admissions 30 minutes before closing. Admission is free. Please check the Birthplace website for more information on these and all centenary events at www.samueljohnsonbirthplace.org.uk or contact the Museum on 01543 264 972.
