A Lichfield housing development’s site manager has scooped a top industry award.

Mick Pountney, from Bryant Homes’ Charter Place development in Lichfield joined colleague John Curtiss from George Wimpey’s Canalside Wharf development in Weston in collecting a Pride in the Job Quality Award in this year’s prestigious National House-Building Council (NHBC) competition.

The awards recognise site managers who consistently demonstrate outstanding commitment to the building of high-quality new homes – and ensure the smooth and safe running of developments.

Ian Smith, Managing Director for Taylor Wimpey (the parent company of Bryant Homes and George Wimpey) in the North Midlands region, said:

“I’m delighted with the achievements of Mick and John. Their selection by independent judges for an award in this highly esteemed competition makes us all extremely proud. Receiving the Quality Award is testament to their dedication, management skills and the whole team’s pride in building the highest quality new homes and in ensuring their site is safe for visitors and staff alike.”

Achieving a Quality Award is no mean feat. Site managers undergo a stringent selection process with judges visiting developments at key stages of the construction process to assess them on all aspects of home building.

Each of the 400 winners is chosen from more than 18,000 NHBC registered housebuilders who run sites across the country – making the Quality Award a highly respected and much-sought after accolade in the house building industry.

All the winners now go forward to compete in the next round for a Top 100 Seal of Excellence Award and a Regional Award, before the UK’s four Supreme Award winners are announced at a gala ceremony in January 2010.
