TV chef Rustie Lee has been announced as one of the stars set to take to the stage in the annual Lichfield Garrick pantomime.

Rustie will take on the role of the genie in Aladdin in this year’s show which runs from November 17 to January 9.

Renowned for her larger than life character, Rustie returned to our screens in 2008 with a role in EastEnders. She’s also a regular guest on GMTV, This Morning and Virgin Radio.

The team behind Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella and last year’s sell-out Dick Whittington are behind Aladdin with writer/director Ian Adams –  in his fourth Lichfield Pantomime – getting in to lather as Widow Twankey.

The show sees an ancient curse decrees that on her 18th Birthday the Princess Balroubadour must meet and marry a Prince of Royal blood. However the wicked Abanazer has other ideas. Aided by his magical slave he seeks the legendary enchanted lamp that can grant wishes beyond your wildest dreams. However he has not reckoned with Aladdin and his family.

A spokesperson for the show said:

“There’ll be thrills, spills and lots of laughter on the way. Spectacular scenery, magical music and fabulous costumes ensure that this will be the most dazzling Garrick Pantomime ever.”
