Two of the area’s most popular singing groups will be playing to their biggest audience yet at Lichfield’s free Proms in the Park.

Lichfield Operatic Society and voices-in-harmony group Bella Musica! will be entertaining the audience in Beacon Park on September 5 from 6pm.

Lichfield District Council’s free Proms in the Park will also feature the 65-piece British Police Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Wolverhampton-born Tom Hammond.

The line-up will include classical music from Prince Igor by Borodin to Harry Potter, and the Polotsvian Dances. As well as performing solos, duets and ensemble numbers at Proms, the two groups will join forces for the rousing Do you hear the people sing? from Les Miserables.

Beth Osman, Lichfield District Council’s Heritage Parks Manager and Proms Organiser, said:

“We’re really looking forward to the fantastic musical line up the groups have prepared. Along with Town Crier, Ken Knowles, compering on the night, and a spectacular fireworks display, it is sure to be a fantastic evening. And it’s all free!”

The council’s leisure services team will also be making an appearance, providing pre-concert activities for children including an inflatable caterpillar.
