Chasetown FC’s Ryan Price is hoping his injury will not keep him out for as long as first feared.

The goalkeeper was ruled out of the Scholars’ FA Cup Preliminary Round replay defeat at AFC Wulfrunians after picking up an injury during the first game.

An initial diagnosis indicated that Price had suffered a fractured pelvis, but scans have since shown that his injury is not as serious as first thought.

However, the injury could still rule him out for a number of weeks – although the Scholars stopper is hoping to be back sooner rather than later.

Price told The Lichfield Blog:

“It got worse after the game on Saturday and I was initially told it could be a fractured pelvis, so I was sent on to Walsall Manor Hospital. I had an x-ray which showed no fracture, but the impact had crushed the nerve into the bone.

“It’s now just a matter of waiting for the nerve to heal – the doctor says it could be weeks or days. Hopefully it will be days as I don’t normally suffer with injuries.”

Price’s abscence meant Martin Taylor stepped into the breach during the replay, which Chasetown lost on penalties, with veteran goalkeeper and club coach John Birt on the bench.
