Fradley’s Summer Parish Fete was given a civic opening as the Chairman of Lichfield District Council did the honours.

Councillor Joseph Powell opened the event, which saw visitors enjoy a variety of stalls, a gundog exhibition and a number of fun games, on August 29.

The highlight of the fete was the pet show, which the Cllr Powell also judged. He chose a Japanese Spitz as the overall winner.

Cllr Powell said:

“I was delighted to be asked to officially open the fete and very much enjoyed judging the pet show. It is so important to keep traditions alive, and it was heartening to see so many local people enjoying what was a charming fate that epitomises village life.”

Joan Lee, Fradley Parish Fete organiser, added:

“I am pleased the fete was such a success and would like to thank everyone for their help and support.”
