Chasewater exhibition to feature legendary puppets

A special exhibition to showcase some of the world’s most popular puppets is set to take place at Chasewater Innovation Centre.

The display is being dedicated to Punch and Judy and includes photographs, memorabilia and videos featuring seaside shows.

An array of information about the life of times of Mr Punch and his co-star wife is also available for visitors to absorb.

The playful pair will be making guest appearances when Punch and Judy shows are staged on September 26 and 27 and October 29 and 30.

Performances will take place at 11am, 1.30pm and 3pm on all of the days expect October 30 when there will only be shows at 11am and 1.30pm. 

Fans of the seaside stars will also be able to step into the booth and try their hand at being a puppet master.

The exhibition will be available to view at the Staffordshire County Council run venue until November 1.

County Councillor Mike Maryon, Cabinet member for Environment and Countryside, said:

“This is a wonderful family friendly exhibition. It will be a great experience for children who haven’t seen a Punch and Judy show before and will be a trip down memory lane for parents and grandparents.” 

The touring exhibition is being sponsored by Heritage Lottery Fund, Puppetlink and Cannock Chase Council.
