Debate over the future of Lichfield’s Christian Fields site

Lichfield residents are being urged to help decide the future of Christian Fields.

A meeting, from 6pm to 8pm on October 7, is being organised by Lichfield District Council’s countryside team to allow people to hear about ideas and suggest new ones.

Local people, organisations and groups have been working on plans to transform the former landfill site, just off Eastern Avenue in Lichfield, and want to hear lots more ideas about this potential haven for wildlife.

The wish list so far includes:

  • creating a green space for the community to enjoy.
  • a nature reserve to encourage more wildlife.
  • tidying up the area in general.
  • planting wildflowers.

Cllr Mike Fryers, Lichfield District councillor and Chair Person of North Lichfield Initiative’s Environment and Transport Group, said:

“The meeting is open to everyone. We’re hoping lots of people will come along and have their say on how Christian Fields could be developed, and that volunteers come forward to offer their help to make it a wonderful green space for all the community.”
