Campaign aims to prevent car crime in Lichfield and Burntwood

carcrimeA new campaign is aiming to help people avoid becoming victims of car crime in Lichfield and Burntwood.

Lichfield District Safer Community Partnership is launching the If it’s on show, it will go campaign with a series of events.

The campaign aims to educate local people about how to make sure their cars or vans are not targets for thieves.

Helen Fisher, Cabinet Member for Community at Lichfield District Council, said:

“We’re running this awareness campaign with our partners to remind local people never to leave any valuables on show in their cars. This could be anything from a sat nav or handbag, to shopping bags or tools. We hope the campaign will help to make Lichfield District an even safer place for everyone – and their cars!”

 Community safety experts – including representatives from the council and the police – will be handing out free car safety packs and advice at drop in sessions across the district. 

These include:

  • Armitage Village Hall, Shropshire Brook Road, Armitage, September 28 from 1pm to 3pm
  • Jigsaw, Dimbles Lane, Lichfield, September 29 from 11am to 1pm
  • District Council House, Reception, Frog Lane, Lichfield, September 30 from 11am to 1pm
  • Burntwood Library, Sankeys Corner, Burntwood, October 1 from 11am to 1pm
  • Mill Lane Link, Fazeley, October 2 from 11am to 1pm
