Lichfield City FC 1 Hampton FC 2

Lichfield City FC produced a much-improved performance but were unable to overcome the league leaders in their Jack Mould Trophy clash.

Dean Gilbert’s side had the better of the opening exchanges as they produced a reaction to recent criticism from their boss.

But luck wasn’t on their side as an uneven bounce caught out defender Ross Adams and bounced up on to his arm giving Hampton a penalty which they duly converted.

The second period saw Lichfield continue to frustrate Hampton until a controversial decision saw the visitors double their lead. The forward appeared to have been flagged by the assistant, but the referee allowed play to continue and the Hampton hitman was able to convert.

City did get the reward their hard work deserved when 17-year-old substitute Lloyd Dunet came on to score a goal on his debut with a superb strike.
