Preparations are underway for the Burntwood Autumn Aquathlon at Friary Grange Leisure Centre in Lichfield.

The aquathlon race, which comprises a swim followed by a run, takes place on November 22.

The Burntwood Aquathlon offers different races for competitors starting at eight-years-old through to adults where the race distance is a 400 metre pool swim followed by a five kilometre run.

Burntwood Triathlon Club Chair Fiona Campbell said:

“The event is open to all abilities and is particularly suitable for athletes making their multi-sport debut. The swim takes place in Friary Grange’s 25m indoor pool followed by a multi-lap run around the leisure centre playing fields.

“There’s plenty of free on-site parking and changing facilities at the leisure centre. Friary Grange is a great venue because there’s plenty of opportunities for spectators to watch the race both at poolside and out on the run course.”

Entry forms and race information are available at www.burntwoodtriclub.org, or by emailing burntwoodrace@hotmail.co.uk.

Fiona added:

“Burntwood Triathlon Club is a growing and friendly club, catering for all levels and abilities and offering a range of training opportunities, and recently had two members – Michelle Askey and Tim Pepper – representing Great Britain at the Triathlon World Age-Group Championships in Australia.
