A Lichfield leisure centre is offering the chance to sign up for the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification course.

Friary Grange Leisure Centre is running an intense week-long course, from October 26 to 31, from 9am to 6pm.

With training both in and out of the water, including emergency aquatic rescue, pool supervision procedures and first aid, this qualification will allow people to work as a lifeguard anywhere in the UK.

Phil Kelly, manager at Friary Grange Leisure Centre, said:

“Life guarding is an important job, and once you’ve qualified you could become a paid lifeguard at your local swimming pool – or anywhere across the country! As well as being informative, the course is fun and a great way to meet new people.”

Participants on the course must be over the age of 16, a competent swimmer and be able to swim 100metres non stop.

The NPLQ course is £200, including assessment fees. For more details, or to sign up, ring Friary Grange Leisure Centre on 01543 308842.
