Chasetown Ladies 9 Wednesfield Ladies 2

Sinead Treanor was the star of the show as she rattled home five goals as Chasetown Ladies picked up the points with an emphatic win in the Staffordshire Women’s Football League.

Player of the match Treanor showed too much pace and skill for the opposition – and she even had time to set up goals for others.

But despite the scoreline it was not all plain sailing for the Scholars. In the first 30 minutes Chasetown, sponsored by Sue’s Cars, had great interceptions by Charlotte Bull, Natasha Whitehouse and Becky Troth to thank for keeping the scoreline level at 0-0.

The breakthrough finally game when when Jade Arber skipped away down the left and put in a good cross for Treanor to tuck away her first.

Treanor’s next two goals came courtesy of good vision and set up play by Jodie Kinsey. But Wednesfield did pull one back to keep the game alive as the Scholars went in 3-1 ahead.

However, any hopes Wednesfield had of clawing their way back into the game evaporated after five minutes of the restart.

A good free kick by Hayley Moulick broke to Arber, who’s shot struck the cross bar and bounced out to Kinsey who struck a first time volley from the edge of the box into the top corner.

Shortly afterwards Treanor’s pace put her away down the wing and allowed her to deliver a perfect cross for  tore away down the right wing, looked up and crossed the perfect ball for the incoming Bull to slot past a stranded keeper.

Treanor then added another two to her tally following good play by Arber and Sarah Thompson.

Arber then added her name to the scoresheet with two headers from Kinsey corners.
