West Midlands Police FC 3 Lichfield City FC 0

Lichfield City FC produced a spirited performance as they gave West Midlands Police a scare in the Staffs Vase.

The city side produced a strong display before eventually going down to a 3-0 scoreline.

Lichfield could have gone ahead in the first half when they had a goal chalked off after the referee spotted an infringement in the area.

And the chances kept coming for Lichfield as leading scorer John Dutton was put through by Jamie Shaw and lobbed the keeper, only to see the ball hit the bar and bounce back into the arms of the Police stopper.

In the second period, Lichfield continued to get the better of their opponents from a higher league and even switched to three forwards as they sniffed an upset.

But in the end, the Police’s Roy Dunkley proved the difference as he bagged a hat-trick towards the end of the game to give his side a flattering scoreline.

Lichfield return to league action on October 10 when they taken on Henley.
