Midfielder Craig Holland has admitted he is “gutted” to be leaving Chasetown FC.

After falling out of favour at the Scholars Ground, Holland has made the decision to move on in search of first-team football.

But Holland – who was on the scoresheet in the 2007 win over Team Bath as Chasetown embarked on their historic FA Cup run – has revealed that leaving was not an easy call to make.

He told The Lichfield Blog:

“Unfortunately it has just not worked out this season for me. I want to be playing every week like everyone does, but I know the gaffer can only pick eleven.

“I’m a bit gutted to be leaving as the all the lads are a top lot and everyone involved with the club like the fans and commitee have been good to me.”

Holland has yet to decide his next move, but his departure will leave manager Charlie Blakemore with another hole in his squad as the midfield man joins Craig Marshall, Harry Harris and Lee Greenway in moving on from the Scholars Ground this season.
