Lichfield RUFC captain Dave Bassett has called on his team-mates to keep on improving if they want to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Willenhall are the next side to attempt to put a dent in Lichfield’s perfect run.

But Bassett believes the battle his side faced in last weekend’s victory against Stourbridge will stand them in good stead.

He continued:

“Last Saturday during the second half we produced our best rugby of the season, so we are really keen to take that into the next game and continue improving week on week.

“Willenhall will present a tough, physical local derby but one in which we will be looking to maintain our 100 per cent record.”

Bassett also admitted that his side must avoid the fatigue factor if they want to keep the wins coming.

That means a number of changes in the coming weeks, as the Lichfield skipper explained:

“We will make just the one change for Willenhall from the selected team last week with Will Cotterhill coming in for Dave Butler, which is down to rotation and making sure guys are getting game time at this level.

“The following week we travel to Silhilians in the national cup and this will provide us with a great opportunity to give some of our squad players a chance to show us what they can do before we re-enter the league campaign away at Ashbourne.”
