Residents in Lichfield and Burntwood are being reminded to play their part in planning the region’s transport agenda for the next decade.

Staffordshire’s transport and highways bosses are asking people for their views – and offering them the chance to win a £200 prize at the same time.

Everyone who visits www.stack-up.info and fills in an online survey will get the chance to win the prize. But residents will need to be quick as the contest closes on October 23.

The stack up campaign was launched in August. It has included a poster and bus back advertising campaign, numerous media stunts including the appearance of an actor dressed as the famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and a touring exhibition.

Major local employers, colleges and libraries have all been roped into helping to promote the campaign.

Staffordshire County Council highways cabinet member Mike Maryon said:

“Get involved and you could win a prize, but the ultimate reward for the people of Staffordshire is an improved transport system that will support economic growth and quality of life for years to come.

“This is all about involving people in building the future for Staffordshire’s extensive and complex highways and transport network. Good transport networks are the building blocks upon which our economic prosperity and quality of life are built. It takes a lot of planning and consultation and then real hard graft.

“The new county council administration has already demonstrated our overwhelming commitment to the road network. This was the number one concern on the doorstep during the recent elections. That’s why we are pumping an extra £30 million of investment into the network over the next three years.

“But we are also determined to look beyond and involve local people directly in planning for the future. This is all about getting people engaged in what is a massively complex business of balancing demands and identifying our real priorities.”
