Lichfield City’s love affair with the Jack Mould Trophy continued as they defeated fellow Midland Combination Division Two side Feckenham 3-0.

City, who reached the final of the competition last term, made it through to the quarter final stage thanks to goals from James Lawson, recent signing from Dosthill Simon Deeley and last season’s top-scorer Jon Rob Dutton.

They now face the winners of Stratford Town A and Kenilworth Town KH in the last eight and manager Dean Gilbert is hoping his side can go one better this time around. He said:

“We were excellent. We seem to save our best performances for the cups.

“We lost to Racing Club Warwick in the final last year and the lads were pretty gutted because they had done so well to reach the final.

“We’ve beaten Coton Green Reserves and Feckenham in the competition so far and hopefully, we can go all the way this year.”
