Striker Kyle Perry is using his memories of Chasetown FC’s historic FA Cup run to inspire his new team-mates.

Perry left the Scholars Ground after catching the eye of Port Vale – one of the clubs sent tumbling out of the competition by Charlie Blakemore’s side during the 2007-08 competition.

But after a rollercoaster spell with the Valiants, the target man has now moved to Mansfield, who entertain Altrincham in the FA Cup tomorrow (October 24).

And Perry is busy keeping his team-mates busy with tales of his rapid rise through the footballing ranks – a journey that began in Chasetown’s FA Cup run.

He told the Nottingham Evening Post:

“I think I have got some of the lads buzzing with my story of what happened at Chasetown and it is something that everyone in the dressing room is looking forward to.

“We have been in good form recently and it is good for us because we only have to get through this tie to get in the first round proper.”
