Lichfield Diamonds Ladies 2 Stratford Town LFC 2

With Stratford unbeaten and in second place in the league it was always going to be a close game for a Diamonds side undergoing a period of rebuilding their squad.

Two unfortunate deflections cost them maximum points, with both coming as Diamonds had begun to take control of the game.

Lyndsey Hopton levelled after Diamonds had gone behind from a deflected free kick.

Diamonds could have gone in front when a deep cross from Hopton was met at the back post by left winger Sally West but her header went narrowly wide.

After a good start to the second half Diamonds again fell behind after some poor defending resulted in a needless corner which deflected past Jo Sheerin.

Again Diamonds raised their game and levelled through Karen Clough.

Jo Hearn went close in the latter stages, while defensively Louise Sharrod, Emma Dagley and Tammi Bennett produced a good performance.
