Lichfield Diamonds Ladies 4 Allscott LFC 1

Lichfield Diamonds’ good run goes on as they continue to integrate several new signings into the squad.

With more strength in depth their old work for the team ethic is returning.

Left winger Sally West opened the scoring with a volley at the back post after a great cross from right back Sarah Sampson.

The home side’s defence was kept on their toes throughout by Allscott’s right winger who was outstanding.

But Diamonds were well on top after the goal with the visiting keeper making several good saves before Karen Clough scored either side of half time to secure the points.

Making her debut 16 year old Shannon Edwards looked totally at home and comfortable on the ball, having been denied by a good save from the keeper in the first half she made no mistake from close range midway through the second.

With time running out, the Shropshire side got a well deserved consolation when a well flighted free kick was turned in at the back post.
