Richard Batchelor is hoping he did enough as a substitute against Carlton Town to but himself back in contention for a starting spot at Chasetown FC.

The midfielder has found himself on the bench in recent weeks, but he put in an all-action half-an-hour in the 1-1 midweek draw.

And Batchelor is keeping his fingers crossed ahead of the Scholars’ trip to Kidsgrove Athletic tomorrow (November 14).

He said:

“Obviously the gaffer has not played me for a reason, but all I could do was show him when I came on.

“I thought I did that on Tuesday for the half-hour I was on. Fingers crossed I’ll get a start against Kidsgrove.”

But whichever 11 start against Kidsgrove, Batchelor acknowledges they’ll need to cut out the mistakes which have cost them points in the last two games.

He said:

“I thought we’d get a win against Carlton. We started with some good football, but again conceded a sloppy goal.

“We bounced back well with another goal from Reece Styche who is on good form. But we are just struggling to find goals from elsewere at the moment.”
