Resurfacing forces overnight closure of A38 at Lichfield

Roadworks sign. Pic: Auntie PMotorists are being warned of overnight delays as a stretch of the A38 at Lichfield is closed for resurfacing.

The work is being carried out on the road over the Trent Valley railway bridge, between the A38 exit on to the A5127 Burton Road and the entry from the A5192 Cappers Lane.

Work will take place between 8pm and 6am on November 14 and 15 and will see the southbound carriageway closed to all traffic.

Traffic will be diverted along the A5127 towards Streethay, on to the A5192 to rejoin the A38 by Darnford Park.

Jon McCarthy, from the Highways Agency, said:

“Road users may need to allow some extra time for overnight journeys as slight delays may occur on this part of the Highways Agency network while work is carried out. Nonetheless the contractor employed by Network Rail will minimise delays to motorists by doing the work outside peak traffic hours.

“Drivers are asked to take care when driving past the works, both for their own safety and that of the workforce.”
