Lichfield YouTube star James Hill could be celebrating a number one single as a unique online project reaches its climax.

The 20-year-old video blogger, better known to his 30,000 subscribers as jimmy0010, is one of four ChartJackers who were given just 10 weeks to produce a track for Children in Need using contributions from the internet community alone.

Their “extremely cheesy pop song” I’ve Got Nothing was made available to download on iTunes on Monday with all proceeds going to the charity.

York University student Hill admitted having no budget or experience in the music industry had really challenged the group, but they are quietly confident of hijacking the chart.

He said:

“Being the final week of the project, we’ve all been mad busy promoting the single. It’s already reached number 25 so we’re hoping it’ll keep climbing the chart and make more money for charity.”

If they burnt the money instead of giving it to charity they’d be the KLF of the internet generation.
