Dean Gilbert has urged his Lichfield City FC side to “pick themselves up” ahead of their trip to Knowle Reserves.

City’s run of four consecutive victories came to an end last Saturday (November 14) as they suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of high-flying Kenilworth Town KH.

Third-placed Knowle will be another tough test for Gilbert’s men, who currently lie seventh in the Midland Combination Second Division.

He said:

“I thought we were unlucky last Saturday and it certainly wasn’t a 4-2 game in my eyes. We had chances but Kenilworth had luck on the day and the decisions went for them.

“We need to pick ourselves up straight away and get in the right frame of mind for another difficult game this weekend.

“Knowle are a decent team but we have proved that we can play and compete with good sides. We are playing the right way and have the right players to get back on a run of good results.”

City take on Knowle at Hampton Road, Solihull (kick-off 2pm).
