Lichfield residents are being asked to take their rubbish elsewhere while the city’s tip closes for maintenance work.

Resurfacing is set to take place at the Lichfield Household Recycling Centre from November 30 to December 9.

Staffordshire County Council recycling bosses have appealed to centre users to be patient while they get the vital work done as quickly as possible.

County Councillor Robert Marshall, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Infrastructure, said:

“We apologise for this temporary inconvenience but the site surfacing will ensure the highest environmental and public safety standards are maintained.

“Recycling is a very important activity to protect our environment, so the infrastructure needs to be kept in tip top condition. It’s important that the surface works at Lichfield are renewed and this can’t be done in safety without closing the whole site.”

Residents are being urged to use the household waste recycling centre at Ring Road, Chase Terrace, Burntwood – which is open every day 9am to 4.30pm – while the Lichfield site is closed for the resurfacing work.
