Lichfield students set to perform Romeo and Juliet sequel

Lichfield students are bringing a sequel to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to the stage.

After Juliet is being performed by students at The Friary School and follows hot on the heels of their production of Oklahoma!

A spokesman for the show explained:

“The two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet are dead, but that doesn’t mean they can’t return. The eternal battle between two families lies stagnant below the surface of a truce. While the courts are deciding the fate of those who aided Romeo and Juliet to die, the Prince of Cats is gaining power.

“Will there be blood shed? Or can the families live sword by sword in peace?”

The play, written by Sharman Macdonald, is made up of modern verse, large scale dance andcombat sequences as well as songs written by Adele, Beyonce, Slow Moving Millie, Snow Patrol, Newton Faulkner and Coldplay.
After Juliet will star Year 12 Performing Arts AS students at the school on January 15. Tickets cost £5 and are available online.
