Christmas at Erasmus Darwin House

A double celebration is set to provide a Christmas treat in Lichfield.

This monh sees Erasmus Darwin House celebrating Christmas and Darwin’s birthday together.

December 12 is Erasmus’s 278th birthday and the museum will be holding an open house for the public to join in the celebrations.

Between 10am and 4pm the House will be open free of charge and, once inside, visitors will be able to enjoy seasonal crafts and a free slice of Darwin’s birthday cake for the kids, mulled wine and mince pies for the adults as well as stalls selling local produce and Christmas gifts.

The museum will be decorated and the Cathedral School Girls Choir will be performing a selection of seasonal songs.

Alison Wallis, manager of the museum, said:

“It promises to be a really special day and we hope the public will get in the holiday spirit and join us in celebrating Darwin’s birthday as well as enjoying all that we have going on during the day.”

There is also the opportunity for people to design a birthday card for Darwin, with all entries being displayed during the open day.
