Players urged to sign up for Lichfield football leagues

footballLichfield footballers are being urged to beat the winter blues by signing up for a league in the city.

Leisure Leagues runs a series of divisions on the all-weather pitches at King Edward VI Leisure Centre on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.

League manager Andy Black said:

“Unfortunately most of us don’t have the advantage of playing on pitches which have under-soil heating, so if temperatures dip too much, there is only one thing a referee can do – and that’s pull the plug.

“With the artificial state of the art surfaces we use at Leisure Leagues games are far more likely to withstand a bit of cold, meaning there will be less disappointment, and more football.”

The top two teams from every league will receive trophies at a presentation night, and have the opportunity to play the top teams from all over the United Kingdom in the Leisure Leagues six-a-side national tournament which is held in Cannock.

For more information ring 0845 230 2340 or visit www.leisureleagues.net. Referees are also required in the area and anyone who is interested should contact the above number and ask for Olly Hitchcox.
