Burntwood RUFC U14 17 Tamworth RUFC U14 31

Burntwood were looking for a good result in their last game of the season and got off to a good start when a series of well drilled moves saw Liam Smith carried the ball over for five points.

Despite good defensive work from Fred Jones, Tamworth got a break and the usually dependable Rory Newall was caught off balance as Tamworth bagged their first try.

Burntwood piled on the pressure from the restart and were rewarded with a brilliant Ben Tranter run of 50 meters to go into the lead, the Newall conversion making it 12-5.

The last play of the first half saw Tamworth try and convert to bring the score to 12-12.

The second half saw Burntwood a further five points down within two minutes of the restart, two more converted tries in Tamworth’s favour made a home victory unachievable.

However scrum half Liam Baker collected the ball on the Tamworth 22, put in a fine break before passing to winger Tranter who again used his speed to take the ball over.
