Chasetown FC have added another new face to their squad – and seen one current member of their playing staff commit his future to the club during a frustrating festive period.

With the Scholars’ festive campaign falling victim to the cold weather, manager Charlie Blakemore has been busy bolstering his side for a championship charge in 2010.

Midfielder Scott Embrey has come in from AFC Telford, while Ross Miller has rejected a move to local rivals Rushall Olympic.

Blakemore told the Chasetown FC website he was pleased to bring in 18-year-old Embrey:

“Scott has played a few first team games at AFC Telford and has the potential to develop into a very good player. I am really looking forward to seeing him develop with us. He has a better chance of regular first team football at this level and this will help his development. He has been mentioned to me by several people and I am chuffed he has signed.”

Miller’s decision not to jump ship will also be a boost to Blakemore as he bids to build a squad capable of lifting the title this season.

Blakemore added:

“”I am really pleased Ross has decided to stay at Chasetown. He is very important to us as he can cover several positions.”

With their New Year’s Day derby at Rushall following their Boxing Day visit to Belper in falling victim to the cold snap, Blakemore will be hoping Chasetown can continue the form which has seen them climb to second in the table.

And their title tilt continues when they face Lincoln United on January 9, kick off 3pm.
