Lichfield City have this week appointed Neil Sierzega and Chris Walton as joint reserve team player/managers

The pair, who have featured for the City first-team this season and are regulars at second-string level, have stepped up to fill the void left by Paul Holt who resigned last month.

First team boss Dean Gilbert said:

“Neil and Chris are players I know very well and I’m pleased that they have accepted the position. Both have exceptional knowledge of the game and hopefully they can continue the superb work of Paul Holt.

“Paul’s decision to stand down was a massive blow; not just to the club but to me as well. He has made a massive impact on the team’s form in the Burton League and produced players worthy of a place in the first-team. Paul will definitely come back into management at some stage as he has a lot to offer and I would hope he chooses Lichfield.

“Neil and Chris have a massive job ahead of them but they are very capable and I know they are relishing the challenge.”

Sierzega and Walton kick-off their managerial careers at Brownsfield Park on Saturday (January 16) as City’s second-string entertain Dart FC (kick-off 2pm).
