Lichfield City FC boosted by cup victory

Lichfield City FC warmed up for Saturday’s league fixture with Greenhill with an excellent penalty victory over Newcastle Town on Wednesday evening.

With scores level, Dean Gilbert’s Men sent their higher division opponents out of the Staffordshire FA Challenge Cup to make it through to the semi-final stages.

Now, buoyed by Saturday’s 6-0 victory over Kenilworth Town and Wednesday’s win, Gilbert is hoping his side can record a hat-trick of wins when Greenhill visit Brownsfield Park (kick-off 2.00pm).

He said:

“We’re in really good form. I’ve been really proud of the way we have applied ourselves recently and am hoping that our good run continues on Saturday.

“It would be nice to have a bumper crowd at Brownsfield Park to give the lads the backing they deserve. We don’t charge to watch our games and have a great Social Club, so I’d appeal to anyone in Lichfield and the surrounding areas to pay us a visit.”
