Chasetown Ladies 9 Burton Albion 0

Chasetown Ladies bounced back from having a goal cancelled out in bizarre circumstances to comfortably win their Staffordshire County Women’s Football League game.

Charlotte Bull had run from her own half and gone one-on-one with the keeper before tucking the ball home. But he ball somehow escaped through the back of the net and the referee failed to award the goal.

But Chasetown continued their patient game, mixing through balls with good wing play and gradually pulled away.

Jodie Edwards slipped a neat through ball for Sinead Treanor to race away and score her first of the day in the 25th minute, swiftly followed by her second a minute later. She completed her hat trick after Abi Picken had won the ball in midfield and put Sinead Treanor clear.

In less than a minute Chasetown increased their lead after half-time. Some neat interplay and Jade Arber broke free to score a well earned goal after much hard work in the first half.

The fifth was a misjudged in-swinging corner from Jodie Kinsey that went straight in.

Corners were causing Burton trouble and Arber notched her second after bundling the ball in after another Kinsey centre.

Edwards got herself on the score sheet for the first time since September when Sinead pulled the ball back from the wing. Arber then turned provider as Treanor scored her fourth of the match and 43rd goal of the season.

Kinsey completed the scoring as she hit a loose ball high into the corner.

The player of the match award went to Abi Picken.
