City dominated the first half and took a deserved lead through skipper Danny Worrall after some excellent work by Jon Rob Dutton.

The hosts came flying out of the block in the second period however and drew level after ‘keeper Dan Edwards allowed a speculative overhead kick to loop into the net.

Perrywood soon made it 2-1 before Jon Rob Dutton levelled proceedings at 2-2.

The game then turned on a controversial incident as Perrywood gained the lead when the ball seemed to be punched into the net following a floated freekick into the City box. Play stopped but, to everyone’s amazement, the referee allowed the goal to stand to gift the hosts a 3-2 win.

Manager Dean Gilbert said:

“We have to learn to finish teams off. We were the better side in the opening 45 minutes and should have gone in at half-time a couple of goals to the good.

“The players need to raise their game. We have a lot of games left and the ball is still in our court but we are going have to start finding form for 90 minutes.”
